Buying gear online is backwards. We’re fixing that.
GearSizer started with a simple frustration: every “best of” list tells you what to buy before it ever asks what you need.
Shop for an air purifier, a generator, or a dehumidifier and you’ll drown in review roundups — most of them ranked by affiliate payout, not by whether the thing will actually work in your room. So people overpay for capacity they’ll never use, or worse, buy something too small and have to do it all again.
We flipped the order. GearSizer asks about your space or your power needs first, does the real math, and only then points you at gear that meets the spec. The number leads; the product follows.
What we believe
- The spec comes first. A recommendation is only as good as the calculation behind it.
- Rules of thumb should be transparent. We tell you the formula we used and why.
- Right-sized beats over-sized. Bigger isn’t better — it’s often just more expensive and, for AC, actively worse.
- Your data is yours. The calculators run in your browser. We don’t need an account and don’t want your inbox.
How we make money
GearSizer is free because we’re an Amazon affiliate: when you buy through one of our links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That funds the site and keeps every calculator free — and it never changes the number the calculator gives you. You can read the full affiliate disclosure any time.
